Sushi OUTSIDE Seattle?

topic posted Tue, May 31, 2005 - 12:42 AM by  offlineTeh Brian
I work in the north end and managed to find four different sushi places within the Everett area to munch on for lunch. The problem is, once I get there I can't really go with the sashimi, just because...well, it's not as FRESH as it is when it comes off the docks in Ballard.

Can anyone recommend a truly excellent sushi place in the north end? You'd think working for a Japanese company would actually MEAN that they might have a list of decent sushi places...but honestly most of the guys I work with go to McDonald's.

Go figure.

hehe. you know how many mcdonalds there are in japan ? more per capita than there are here, and tokyo is the 2nd larges city in the world. starbucks are even more prolific, so in a sense, working for a japanese company and eating mcdonalds CAN give you that occidental experience. as for sushi, well cant help ya there. try www.seattle.citysearch.com and see what they say. good luck.

I'm relatively new to the area and am dying for a quality Sushi restraunt somewhere in the Fife to Burien area. Any recommendations? An address would be very helpful.

As I've mentioned in the North End sushi thread, check out Sushi Zen at the border of Mill Creek and Silver Lake, just south of Everett.

It's in the top five or so places that I've been to in the area. I've only been there for lunch. But we'll make the drive up from bothell now and then because they do things well, and the fish is of high quality. Pay attention to the specials board. the past few months this great Aji has popped up. The suzuki has been excellent as well. Last time, there was great king crab nigiri. Stay away from the octopus and surf clam-- they've been frozen and are chewy.

I would not call it "truly excellent", that I reserve for the best places. I'd just say "very good".
